“Emerging Uses of Artificial Intelligence in Dentistry”

BCDA is pleased to welcome Doctor Jeffery Price for his course providing a short history of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with a focus on the early use of Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL). He will review the current uses of AI in dentistry, as well as developing technology. His presentation includes a descrip¬tion of the early history of AI and the development of ML and DL. Additionally, there will be a discussion of computer-assisted diagnosis (CAD) as used in radiology. Importantly, he will discuss current uses of AI in dentistry.

Upon completion of the presentation, attendees will have knowledge of the basic principles of AI, including ML and DL and be able to discuss the most common dental uses of AI.

Jeffery B. Price, DDS, MS, MAGD, FICD, FACD is a Clinical Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and Co-Director of the Division of Artificial Intelligence Research at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. In addition, he is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill. Before entering oral and maxillofacial radiology, Doctor Price practiced general and adult restorative dentistry in Hendersonville, North Carolina for 24 years. While in practice, Doctor Price completed the continuum at the L.D. Pankey Institute and attained his Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry, as well as Diplomate status in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and Fellowship in the American Association of Hospital Dentists.

Doctor Price is currently a North American Director for the International Association of Dento-Maxillofacial Radiologists and is Secretary of the Board and Director of Education of the IADMFR. He is on the Editorial Board for the DMFR Journal and he is a reviewer for the OOOO Journal and also serves on the AGD Self-Instruction Committee which administers the CE quizzes in the AGD Journal, General Dentistry.

Doctor Price has authored or co-authored more than 45 peer-reviewed articles, written 3 book chapters and has taught more than 140 continuing education courses. He has also served on 16 masters degree or PhD degree research committees at the Maryland School of Dentistry.
