BCDA's March 24th Meeting Will Be Handshake Free!

In response to the coronavirus, DoubleTree by Hilton has taken the following additional measures developed in consultation with global and local public health authorities (including the WHOand CDC):

  • Increased the frequency of cleaning our public areas (including lobbies, elevators, door handles, public bathrooms, etc.) using hospital-grade disinfectant.
  • The buffet dinner will not be self-serve. All food items will be served by DoubleTree staff only.
  • DoubleTree will continue to adjust food and beverage service in accordance with current food satety recommendations.
  • Additional hand-washing stations will be available in the lobby area.

To reduce the potential spread of COVID-19, registrants are strongly encouraged to email their questions for the Board of Dental Examiners in advance to [email protected]

A stationary, no-touch microphone will be provided for oral questions on the night of the meeting.

Course Summary:    

"Getting to know your Dental Board: Essentials for Practitioners and Staff" will be presented in a panel discussion format designed to acquaint dentist and staff with an increased understanding of the essential elements for both effective patient safety and regulatory compliance. The speaker panel's active engagement with the audience is incorporated into the lecture format.
 
OBJECTIVES:
  • Enhance understanding of the Dental Board's mission, scope, organizational structure, Practice Act and disciplinary process.
  • Review best practices for routine documentation, scope of practice, credential verification, minimizing adverse incidents and appropriate response to Dental Board inquiries and subpoenas.
  • Identify common Dental Practice Act violations including standard of care, recordkeeping, fraudulent billing, infection control and substance abuse/drug diversion.
  • Provide updates regarding regulatory requirements, sedation, continuing education and Board legislative activities.
  • Increase familiarity with references, resources and websites that assist providers in maintaining a culture of compliance.
