At the end of this course, the attendee should be able to:
1. Distinguish the difference between internal and external root resorption based on clinical and radiographic findings
2. Prescribe appropriate clinical and radiographic testing for diagnosis and treatment of root resorption
3. Describe the four classes of invasive cervical resorption, the most common form of external resorption
4. Know when to treat versus monitor
5. Recognize the role of dental trauma as an etiology of root resorption.
MARK D. LENTZ, D.M.D. Doctor Lentz’s undergraduate degree was from the Pennsylvania State University and he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He continued his training, completing a general practice residency at the Veterans Administration, Pittsburgh Healthcare System and returned to the University of Pittsburgh to complete specialty train- ing in endodontics. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. He is heavily involved with research and outreach in endodontics, and served as a member of the American Association of Endodontists Corporate Relations Committee. He is the founder of the Annapolis Spear Study Club,a member of the Triple Crown Study Club and Anne Arundel County Dental Society, in addition to both Maryland State Dental Association and American Dental Association.
